Helpful Suggestion: Clean top to bottom

Before you use homemade cleaners, please read First Time Use

Sink

Unclog drain by pouring about 1/2 cup of baking soda and 1 cup vinegar down the drain. This will bubble up for a minute or two, then run hot water in the sink.
For sinks with garbage disposals, use only half these amounts.
***
Clean your sink and sponge or cloth after washing dishes by sprinkling baking soda in sink and wiping it down with the sponge or cloth. This works especially well for stainless steel sinks that can be scratched easily by other cleaners.
***
Baking soda works great on the hard water stains on my faucet. Scrub with an old toothbrush.

Dishes

Clean glass with baking soda and warm water for more sparkle.
***
The best cleaner for plastic containers: paste of baking soda and water. For especially tough stains or odors on plastic, sprinkle baking soda on dry container, let sit overnight and wash in am.

Dishwasher

Detergent - 2 Tbls baking soda and 2 Tbls borax.
***
Clean inside of dishwasher by running a rinse cycle through with 1/2 box of baking soda.

Counters

Cleaning cutting boards with vinegar.

Appliances

Clean your blender by filling halfway with water and adding 1 teaspoon of baking soda and a drop of detergent. Blend for a second or two, then rinse well.
***
Clean coffeepot by brewing 1 cup water with 1/3 cup baking soda.
***
Clean deep fryers with baking soda- This absorbs the grease and the smell and will not scratch the surface.
***
Clean your refrigerator and defrosted freezer with baking soda paste.
Put a fresh box of baking soda in fridge every 3 months.
***
Clean stovetop by sprinkling baking soda and spraying vinegar on top. Let it bubble a minute and then wipe clean.
Clean the burner trays with the same solution. Then wipe dry and sprinkle baking soda onto trays after you put them back. This gives the stove a deodorizer and absorbs any spilled grease to prevent a grease fire.

Floor

Sprinkle baking soda in bottom of garbage can each time you change the bag to combat odors.

This is one of the best ideas I have ever heard- use bread to pick up broken glass on the floor.

Air

For really strong smells, like fish, fill a bowl with vinegar and leave sitting out overnight.
